Professor Ray Block publishes book about shifting partisan coalitions in the South

A newly published book by Ray Block Jr., associate professor of political science and African American studies and his co-authored, Sekou M. Franklin, associate professor of political science at Middle Tennessee State University, explores racial dynamics, policy changes and political party shifts — combined with the history and legacy of the state — contributed to Tennessee transitioning from a swing state to one that is now strongly Republican. The book is entitled “Losing Power: African Americans and Racial Polarization in Tennessee Politics”.
