A 2019 study based on citations to faculty publications on Google Scholar ranked our faculty #5 in research impact, #12 in top publications, and #17 in citations per capita.

National Research Council

The National Research Council 2010 assessment of graduate programs nationwide placed Penn State’s Political Science program 5th (out of 105 programs assessed) and 22nd on two ratings scales. The program was rated 5th on the “S” ratings scale, which is based mainly on faculty productivity, citation of faculty, and graduate student accomplishment.  PSU was rated 22nd on the “R” scale, which incorporates information from reputation.

U.S. News and World Report

The Political Science department ranked in the top third in U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 ranking of America’s Best Graduate Schools.

 We are also ranked in the top 20 by U.S. News and World Report for International Relations, Comparative Politics, and Methodology.
