Congratulations to Professor Jim Piazza, Liberal Arts Professor of Political Science, for publishing in American Politics Research with his work titled “Allegations of Democratic Election Fraud and Support for Political Violence Among Republicans”. This study uses an original survey experiment to find that Republican partisans – individuals who identify as Republicans – are more likely to express support for political violence when they are primed with allegations that Democrats cheat in elections. Specifically, it finds that allegations of Democratic election fraud triggers distrust of racial and religious minorities among Republican subjects which reinforces their support for political violence.
