Congratulations to our November Student of the Month, Cara Arnoldi!
Cara Arnoldi is a fourth year Schreyer Scholar and Paterno Fellow majoring in political science and communication arts and sciences. Her honors thesis focuses on feminist rhetoric and women’s suffrage. The project integrates both of her majors and her passion for democracy, women’s rights and public policy.
Cara discovered her interest in policy research through a McCourtney Institute for Democracy Nevins Fellowship, which she completed with the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress. The internship enabled her to conduct research on political reform and publish her work in the Center’s weekly newsletter. She now serves as a student advisor for the McCourtney Institute for Democracy.
Every Saturday during football season, Cara can be seen on the field in the horn section of the Penn State Marching Blue Band. She is the current president and past vice president of the Blue Band and in 2023 she represented the organization as a THON dancer.
Cara has received numerous scholarships and enrichment grants from the Political Science Department to support her enrichment activities, which include a Maymester in Capetown, South Africa to study reproductive health and rights, and a research assistantship with Professor Loyle investigating rebel rule of law. She is a 2023 and 2024 recipient of the Anderson scholarship, which is awarded to political science students for the highest academic achievement.
Cara is also pursuing a Masters in Public Policy through the Integrated Undergraduate-Graduate program.
