Professional Bio
Cecilia Cavero is a fourth-year Ph.D. Candidate (ABD) in Political Science and Social Data Analytics (SoDA) and the 2026-2027 SoDA Predoctoral Fellow. Her research examines how peace is built, sustained, and challenged in conflict-affected settings. She investigates how communities manage disputes, how armed actors establish political order, and how international institutions shape these processes, situating these questions at the intersection of aid, civil society, and governance. Her work draws on both quantitative and qualitative methods, including network analysis, survey experiments, and interviews, and she undertakes original data collection where existing sources are limited. Alongside these substantive questions, she develops methodological tools for the study of conflict, including network-based measures of fragmentation in international institutions, structural break detection frameworks for conflict time series, and human-supervised large language model pipelines for organizational classification.
