Graduate Student Awards

The Department of Political Science has three awards that we give out to graduate students at the end of every academic year. Please click on the award name to see previous winners.

Robert S. Friedman Award for Excellence in Teaching

Criteria:

The Friedman Teaching Award was established in honor of Dr. Robert S. Friedman, which is given to the a graduate student instructor who shows excellence in teaching their own course. The Graduate Studies Awards Committee makes this determination by looking at the SRTE's, course syllabi, and faculty evaluations of all graduate students who has served as the instructor of record for a course in the previous year (Fall, Spring, Summer). 

The Best MA Essay Award

Criteria:

The Best MA essay Award which recognizes the student who has written the best MA essay. The Graduate Studies Awards Committee makes this determination based on all MA theses that have been successfully defended and deposited at the end of every spring semester. This eligible list will come from the Graduate Staff Office.

The Outstanding Graduate Student Award

Criteria:

This award is for continuing graduate students who have achieved an excellent record of performance in their graduate studies. The Graduate Studies Awards Committee makes this determination based on annual review reports and nominations from faculty members.
