Professional Bio
Lindsay Snyder is a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow in the Department of Political Science at Pennsylvania State University. She received her dual-title Ph.D. in Political Science and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Penn State in August 2026. Her research examines how electoral and political organization rules shape women's political ambition, with a regional focus on the Middle East. She studies these questions using surveys and interviews to better understand the gendered consequences of electoral rules, especially gender quota policies, in authoritarian regimes. Her dissertation investigates the factors that influence women's decisions to run for political office in Jordan. Her research has been supported by a Fulbright U.S. Student Research Award in Jordan and an American Political Science Association Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant (APSA DDRIG).
