Professional Bio

Morrgan is a dual-title PhD Candidate in Political Science and Social Data Analytics. Her work focuses on how institutions affect the behavior of political elites, with a focus on legislatures and courts in the American context. She is particularly interested in how judicial selection methods impact decision making at both the federal and state level. Her dissertation examines this issue in the federal context, analyzing the effect of venue on information exchanges between senators and judicial nominees during circuit court confirmations. Methodologically, Morrgan employs natural language processing and machine learning techniques to advance this line of research.
