Professor Michael Nelson Receives Two National Science Foundation Grants

Michael Nelson, the Jeffrey L. Hyde and Sharon D. Hyde and Political Science Board of Visitors Early Career Professor, recently received two grants from the National Science Foundation to study support for judicial institutions around the globe. For the first project, he and his co-author are investigating the conditions in eight countries under which citizens will stand up to support democratic institutions from the sorts of attacks commonplace among populist leaders. The work supported by the second grant is related to the first: he and two colleagues are studying how the Coronavirus pandemic affects public support for the rule of law in Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
