Ray Block, professor of political science and African American studies, recently published a paper in The Forum, with his coauthors, Daniel Galvin, Deva Woodly, and Hahrie Han. The piece, “Democratic Organizing and Political Change: Toward a Research Agenda” makes the case that political science should pay more attention to organizing, not simply mobilizing or civic participation. We focus especially on how organizing builds relationships, develops political agency and collective power, helps people navigate differences, and expands their sense of what is politically possible.
