UNESSO Laura W. Bush Traveling Fellowship
The fellowship is intended for American college/university students who express an interest in international collaboration but as of yet had not been afforded many opportunities to travel abroad. The length of time for the travel is expected to be between 4 and 6 weeks and should include interaction with individuals from other nations. During his/her travel, the recipient should be willing to participate in public diplomacy events arranged with the pertinent U.S. State Department Consulate, Mission, and/or Embassy. Following the travel, the recipient agrees to submit a report describing experiences and analyzing objectives achieved; share his/her experiences with others; and be available to make a presentation at the Annual Meeting of the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO.

Funding for this fellowship has generously come from private donations.

The Commission has opened the next call for the Spring/Summer 2009 round of applications for the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO Laura W. Bush Traveling Fellowship for those traveling between May and August 2009. The deadline for applications will be March 1, 2009 (5:00pm EST). All those interested in the Internship in Capital Punishment Studies or learning more about the death penalty are invited to attend CCPS’ annualDEATH PENALTY FORUM. Speakers include eminent scholars on the death penalty and former interns who will speak about their experiences on the CCPS internship scheme.
The forum takes place onWednesday 19th November 2008, from 2.00 – 6.00 pm [Registration 1.15 pm] in the ‘The Auditorium’ at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, Northcliffe House, 28 Tudor Street, London EC4Y 0AY.

The internships provides opportunities for students and practitioners to gain knowledge and experience whilst supporting the activities of organisations involved with capital punishment issues as well as those representing death row inmates. Approximately 10 overseas placements in the British Caribbean Commonwealth and Africa will be offered and they are not restricted to those with a law background.

Editorial Internship 2009-2010
The internship is a full-time, paid position offering an exceptional training in serious journalism. The length of the internship is one beginning in August. The intern works as an assistant editor with substantial responsibility. Interns are involved in all aspects of the editorial process.
Stipend: The academic year internship carries a salary of $32,000 per year.
