Internship Opportunity: The Patrick Murphy Congressional Internship Program
The Patrick Murphy Congressional Internship Program is designed to offer secondary and college students for an opportunity to work in a Congressional office. The following summary will provide an overview of the program.
- Internships are available to students pursing interests in political science, government administration, or other associated field.
- Internships are not paid positions; however incidental expenses relating to congressional business will be reimbursed if approved prior to the expenditure.
- Internship periods typically coincide with school semesters
- Applicants must complete an application and submit all supplementary materials requested. Applications must be submitted to the Congressional office at least 60 days prior to start of internship unless otherwise instructed.
- A background check is completed on all interns.
- Applicants will receive formal notification of acceptance or denial.
- There are limited number of internships in each of the three Congressional offices located in Washington DC, Bristol and Doylestown.
- Internship duties include administrative duties, research, and other tasks assigned by Congressional staff.
- Interns must dress professionally according to office standards.
- Interns must have good computer skills and be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Interns will report to the Office Manager unless otherwise directed.
- Interns will only engage in Congressional activities relating to constituent services and will not engage in any political activities that promote any individual running for public office.
