Ph.D., University of Illinois, 1953; Professor Emeritus of Political Science. Professor Friedman, a former Head of the Political Science Department, taught at Penn State from 1968 until his retirement in 1994, after previous positions at the University of Maryland, Louisiana State, and the University of Michigan. His research focused on the politics of the bureaucracy, science policy, and American state and local government. Professor Friedman remains active in local politics and is the chair of the clean elections project and a member of the board of Common Cause/Pennsylvania. He lives in State College and can be reached via e-mail. | |
